Christian Music Review: Beautiful Things – Gungor

Christian Music Review – Beautiful Things by Gungor

Every once in a while someone writes a song that resonates within you. You only need to hear the opening chords and you instantly feel the power of God’s love.

beautifulthingsIt is a song that will speak something to you no matter what season of life you find yourself in. It is a song that makes you want to lay down and worship. I’ve found a song like that for you.

You may have heard it on the radio, it plays every now and then. Beautiful Things by Gungor is a worship song that repeats the same simple but beautiful lyrics over and over.

Chorus:

You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of the dust
You make beautiful things
You make beautiful things out of us.”

It reminds us where we come from but it doesn’t leave us there, it calls us higher, the same way God calls us higher.

It seems to me that this song is related to Romans 8:28: “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.”

gungorTo us, dust as no value. It makes our houses and cars messy, it makes us cough, it’s a sign of drought, all in all, dust is bad. But God made Adam and Eve out of it. Technically, we are still made out of it even though we grew in our mother’s womb.

How did our mother grow us? From the resources she already had in her body and with the sustenance she put in it. Where did she get these things? From her mother and from the earth where food grows.

God makes beautiful things from the dust for His good purpose, this includes us.

I encourage to sit and listen to this song on repeat, let it wash over you, let it comfort and renew you. God’s love is amazing, allow it to break down your walls so that you can feel the full force of His love like an ocean wave.
